Meet the hard-hitting Ladies from Maple Downs Golf & Country Club. They’ve got balls! And tenacity. For 25 years, they have not only played a mean game of golf, they have also used their passion for good, hosting annual charity golf tournaments that have raised more than 1.6 million dollars for important local causes.Last year at the Ladies Pro Am golf tournament, Brenda Faibish and her organizing committee raised $32,000 for Stella’s Place. And they are doing it again, with an even more ambitious fundraising goal for this year’s event on August 28th.

Organizers are still looking for Hole Sponsors for as little as $250, in-kind gifts (hats, balls, water etc.), as well as gift certificates / merchandise to add to their Silent Auction and Raffle. Other Sponsorship opportunities are also still available. For more information on how you can support this incredible event, please follow this link: Maple Down’s Ladies’ Pro Am Tournament.

Once again, emerging artists from Stella’s Studio will be participating in the event by submitting their artwork for live auction. Co-facilitated by experienced peers, Stella’s Studio is an arts-based community of young adults with lived experience who meet once a week to create and share art. The arts are a vital part of our wholistic approach to service delivery. Through the healing power of art and creative expression, participants get the opportunity to build mastery and coping skills. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the pieces that will be on display:

As the artist, Amanda Lederle, from CreateBeing, points out in her description of the second piece, My Beautiful Mind:

We are such complex human beings and yet, we understand things when given systematic, sometimes singular approaches to comprehend information given. My mind is full, unorganized, sometimes feeling overwhelmed and scattered. However, it doesn’t mean that I am not able to find joy, beauty, emotional connection and hope in these moments. This is my visual representation of how something abstract can be seen with complexity and beauty.

A huge thank you, Pro Am Ladies (definitely PRO in the fundraising arena), for helping us drive home the message that young adult mental health can’t wait and a new approach is desperately needed.
