During the weekend of August 24th, Stella’s Place was invited to take part in a celebration of sports, community and Filipino culture at Nathan Phillips Square, by being selected as a partner charity for BTTL416.
BTTL416 is a basketball tournament put on by the Philippine Independence Day Council. It is a street culture festival that celebrates diversity, passion, growth and development in all things basketball. It brings together Toronto’s elite youth, men’s and women’s ballers in an outdoor 5-on-5 basketball invitational tournament.
This was the first time Nathan Phillips Square had a basketball court set up, so naturally most people couldn’t contain their excitement! It was wonderful to see so many different people come together and share their passion for building thriving communities.
The Stella’s Place booth got a lot of traffic and we talked to countless people and featured our online peer support program, Bean Bag Chat.
At Stella’s Place, we know that sport and fitness play an integral role in mental well-being and recovery. Twice weekly, we offer fitness and yoga classes in partnership with our community partner, lululemon.
